Based on a true story, Evelyn Ryan is a Midwestern housewife who is just barely holding her family together, battling poverty and her husband’s drinking. She finds success by entering contests for ad slogans and jingles sponsored by consumer product companies. She won many of these contests and brought home enough money and prizes to keep her family afloat.
Co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women Elgin Area Branch. Enjoy a film and discussion focused on women’s issues at 6 p.m. in Programming Room. No registration.
