New Quick Flicks for the week of 1/20/08



NFL star Joe Kingman is in his prime: He's rich, famous and one of the world's most eligible bachelors. There's nothing that can throw him off his game. Nothing, that is, except for the emergence of the 7-year-old daughter he never knew he had. Now, with his team gunning for a title, Joe must find a way to balance crushing gridiron action with bedtime stories and ballet classes.

Vacationing journalists try to track down a missing war criminal in one of Eastern Europe's deadliest regions. What begins as an impulsive reporting adventure immediately turns dangerous, as hostile locals, shady underworld figures and a case of mistaken identity put them squarely in their target's crosshairs. Amid the bullets and bombs, they discover that getting the scoop is one thing-- getting out alive is something else entirely. Inspired by true events.


A space shuttle burns up upon reentry causing debris to land across a wide area of the United States. Tucker Kaufman, a member of the CDC, visits one of the crash sites and gets a cut on his hand. Dr. Carol Bennell begins to notice that people are starting to act strange. She turns to her best friend, Dr. Ben Driscoll. He takes a small sample of the material to Dr. Stephen Galeano and they soon learn the substance is not from Earth. Carol's son, Oliver starts to have nightmares and Carol thinks it is because he is about to see Tucker, his father. Tucker has been infected and begins to show little emotion. One of Carol's patients complains that her husband is acting differently. As she begins to voice these concerns, Carol begins to notice other strange things. People are staring at her as she walks by and no one shows any emotion when a woman is hit by a car. Carol soon realizes she must stay awake, find her son, and join her two friends as they try to get to Fort Dix and work on an antidote.


Moliere is a down-and-out actor and playwright who is up to his ears in debt. The wealthy Jourdain offers to cover that debt so that Molière's theatrical talents might help Jourdain win the heart of a certain widowed marquise. Disguised as a priest, Molière becomes a guest in Jourdain's palace on the subtext of teaching Jourdain the craft of the stage - all this to the annoyance of Jourdain's wife, Elmire. But, soon after, the confrontation between Elmire and Molière turns seductive. Jourdain enlists the aid of a well-connected and scheming acquaintance to help him pursue the widowed marquise.


When a Chinese criminal mastermind flees to Paris, there's only one culture-clashed, crime fighting duo for the job. Ready to raise cane in the city of lights, Chief Inspector Lee and Detective Carter get themselves caught in an explosive battle between French police, the Triad gang, an angry cabbie and two gorgeous femmes fatales. But, Lee and Carter manage to uncover the secret at the heart of the Triad syndicate.
