YouTube's Symphony Orchestra

Professional and amateur musicians from around the world auditioned for YouTube's first symphony orchestra. The audition tapes were judged by professional musicians from some of the most renowned orchestras from around the world.

The orchestra will be preforming a piece written by Chinese composer Tan Dun in Carnegie Hall tonight, April 15th, 2009. If you can't get to Carnegie Hall for the performance you can still listen to a Global Mashup of the Internet Symphony.

Remembering George Frideric Handel

It was 250 years ago today that the world saw the passing of George Frideric Handel. The German born musician started his career as an organist for the Calvinist Domkirche (cathedral) but soon traveled to Hamburg, Italy, Hanover, and finally settling in England. Handel was first composer to break from court and church patrons to receive his living directly the public.
